FOLDING@HOME

Dear all,

If I tell you ...would you want to cure cancer , Parkinson or Alzheimer?...What would be your answer ?... I guess an emphatic YES and if I tell you that ... I could possibly tell you the way by which you can help ... finding a cure... Surprised ...Well don't be.While I was surfing net I came across FOLDING@HOME . Basically protein fold in our body ... if the folding goes wrong, we acquire numerous diseases ... STANFORD UNIVERSITY has created a software to connect many computers to one mega Super Computer through internet ... so that by distributed computing ... they can simulate protein folding ... to see what actually goes wrong.

Now... how can you help ? Do you have a PC,PS3 Or a MAC ? You just need to download the software from HERE ... and run it so that you can connect to the bandwidth in which millions of people are working now ... all types of PC'S and MAC'S can process different kinds of information very well , especially gaming rigs with high end GRAPHIC CARDS / and those with dual core and quad core processors ... I guess for a noble cause we all can afford to contribute ... NOW WHAT DO WE EXPECT FROM YOU ? Nothing much !!! Just download the software and go working ...That's all ...

Interactive Session On CCE

Dear all

In an endeavor to bring about the much-needed change in the education policy in India, CBSE has introduced CCE i.e. Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation in schools for classes IX and X. This new evaluation system aims at identifying and promoting the hidden talents in the children and hence shifts the focus from 'just' academics to the overall development of a child. Magnificent efforts are required to be put in while bringing about a change. And in our school too, teachers are taking great pains to leave no stones unturned while contributing for a hopefully, successful run of CCE. In a bid to create general and specific awareness for the same among students, certain workshops are being conducted in our school. Vice Principal ma'am, Mrs. Anjali Malik discussed the various aspects of CCE with students of class IX in the workshop. Hence, the school is setting up a dialogue between the students and teachers through such interactive sessions. We really appreciate the efforts of one and all. Let's just hope that everything goes well.
Also, you may check this older post about CCE.
Keeping our fingers crossed, we sign off...

Hundreds Of New Species Discovered In Eastern Himalayas

Dear all

Over 350 new species including the world's smallest deer , a "flying frog " and a 100-million years old gecko has been discovered in the eastern Himalayas
A decade of research carried out by scientists in remote mountains , endangered by rising global temperatures bought exiting discoveries .
Historically rugged and large inaccessible landscape of Himalayans made biological surveys in the region extremely difficult as a result many regions are biologically unexplored ........
Eastern Himalayas harbor a staggering 10,000 plant species , 300 mammal species , 977 bird species , 176 reptiles , 105 amphibians and 269 types of freshwater fishes . the region also have highest density of Bengal tigers in the world and latest bastion of charismatic one horned -rhino .
WWF is working to conserve the habitat of endangered species such as snow leopard ,Bengal tigers , Asian elephants , Red pandas , takin and golden langurs etc......
Its paradoxical to find man who needs the environment most id destroying its peace and sanctity ,,,directly r indirectly we are affecting the world around us so why don't we follow certain norms ..which can contribute in curbing Global Warming ...which is affecting Himalayan glaciers and the fauna niche on it ........Himalayan glacier is a small part of the worls if we want to save the worls we have to join hands and strive for a perfect world ....

Happy Children's Day !

Dear all

Happy Children's Day to all! Yes, to all! Why? Don't we all long to be a child? Don't we all crave for our childhood again? Well, there's no point in being a grown up if you can't be childish sometimes! So, Be a child today! We know its a refreshing thought ... the thought of your sweet childhood!

Celebrated on 14 November i.e. on the birthday of Chacha Nehru who loved and was loved by children, this day is simply set to honor children and minors. The day is marked with a lot of activities for children. But the fact remains that only a section of the country’s children actually have an opportunity to celebrate their existence. There is an entire populace of young ones that are left ignored on this special day – the downtrodden street children. This day reminds to each and every one of us, to renew our commitment to the welfare of children and teach them to live by their Chacha Nehru’s quality and dream. What can you do about it? Childhood is about innocence and playfulness .It is about joy and freedom . May be on this day you might sign up to sponsor education of a underprivileged child in an NGO such as PRAYAS orCRY

In our school too, students of classes VI, VII and VIII have had loads of fun on the fields! The school had organized Sports Day for these young and never-tiring souls on 10, 11 and 12 November 2009. And what better a gift than this to these amiable children on the occasion of Children's Day. It was almost a festival in the school's playground! One could find them running, playing, enjoying and learning with each passing moment. A splendid sight to witness! Many won in their respective events while many just missed it. But then these very battles prepare one to win the war ! And that's what school's education is all about. Napolean put it correct when he said 'Victory belongs to the most persevering.' Those who could not make it to the top spot will definitely win some other day, if they keep putting in their best efforts.

Do watch IBN7 today at 7:00 pm to know experiences and views of our prime minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Once again... Wishing you all a very Happy Children's Day.

If you are one of those who missed it, we bring to you the same! Enjoy...

The Fire-Fighting Workshop

Dear All

Preparedness and Prevention is always better than cure. In every unfortunate instance of disasters, our preparedness determines our ability to respond effectively and hence combat the consequences of the same. And to prepare the youngsters of our school for future, a demonstration on Fire-fighting was organized in the school premises.

Students were told about the know-how of the skill of fire-fighting. Since firefighters are often the first responders to people in critical conditions, firefighters provide many other valuable services to the community they serve. Students were told about all this and lots more. How to 'read' a fire, how does a fire extinguisher work, the science of extinguishment, when and how to use water, how to tactfully isolate a fire... All such questions were answered during the course of the workshop. Simple hands-on activities further enhanced the understanding of a child about something as deadly as fire. We hope that the students never need to apply this acquired knowledge about fire-fighting in their lives, but, in case, they encounter any mishappening, they would be better equipped to fight the same. Signing off at this note...

Minister's Verse - A poem by Kapil Sibal

Please rid me of this awful load
preparing for the class X board

My thirsty mind craves to create
Not have exams decide my fate

My wondrous eyes yearn to explore
Much beyond my classroom doors

My dreams should not be cut to size
Because I hate to memorize

If you test me for brains and guile
Don't have to look at percentiles

Marks encourage one upmanship
a free ride on an ego trip

With textbooks I should start to surf
Inquiringly look for new turf

Walk away from the trodden path
And not invite my teacher's wrath

Solving a sum will not help find
Real answers to a questioning mind

Create the space for me to run
Let learning be a lot of fun

Orientation Program- CCE for class IX

Dear all

Today, i.e. on 7 November, an Orientation Programme on CCE for Class IX was organized in the school. With an intention of introducing and hence discussing this new concept of 'Continuous And Comprehensive Evaluation' for classes IX and X, this interaction between parents and the school's faculty went off quite fruitful.

All the aspects of this newly arrived education policy, namely Scholastic and C0-scholastic, were duly dealt with. A special feature of the event i.e. The Question Answer round, is worth a mention. The very curious parents actively participated and hence contributed towards this cause by asking relevant questions. Feeling the responsibility towards grooming a child into a responsible citizen, parents as well as teachers joined hands and appeared determined to work towards the same. As per the expectations, we are happy to share with you the various links leading to almost all the required documents. In case of further inquiries, do not hesitate to contact us.
